Thursday 2nd October 2008 - My nurse woke me a couple of times during the night when she checked my temperature and changed my nappy. Other than that I slept really well and was wide awake when mummy and daddy came to see me this morning. Mummy gave me some milk in a bottle for the first time in a month!!! It was soooooo nice!
I haven't needed to have the CPAP put back on so I think that means I'm on the mend at last. But the nurse has still been concerned with my haemoglobin levels being a bit low so I may need another blood transfusion later.
Mummy's friend Kaye came to see me today and she had bought me this silly blue airfalant (Tiana means elephant) that sings and lights up! I wasn't too sure about it at first but I've been giggling and smiling at him all day and think he's fab!
When mummy and daddy came back from having some lunch they played silly games again like peek-a-boo, whoops-a-daisy (when mummy and daddy put my pink blanket bunny on their head and let it fall off - it really is a pip!) and ready-steady-go with my magic mirror. They are silly a lot but I love them.
Some of my nurses have noticed that, no matter what they do, I just will not smile at them but, as soon as I see my mummy and daddy, I'll smile and giggle. I don't mean to be rude it's just that they're not mummy and daddy so I'm being shy and reserved.
Mummy gave me a bottle of milk this afternoon which was yummy but it made my tummy feel funny so I was sick all over my clean clothes. Once I'd been cleaned up I smiled at mummy and daddy to let them know my tummy was feeling better. Then I had a sleep because I'm still quite tired and mummy and daddy playing with me makes me sleepy sometimes.
I woke up a little later and mummy and daddy were waiting to see me. I gave them a big smile and then all my doctors came in my special room so mummy and daddy had to wait outside for a little while. When the doctors left and mummy and daddy came back in, my nurse explained why I needed some more blood. She said that because I wasn't eating properly at the moment and because I was still having some of my blood taken to be tested, it was affecting my haemoglobin levels and a transfusion would help me get better quicker.
A man came into my special room and said he had some letters for me. Mummy and daddy opened them and they were replacement cards sent because mine all disappeared after the fire here on Monday. Mummy and daddy showed me my cards and I loved them! I got a pink one with a funny bunny on the front of it and it made me laugh! Mummy said it was from Casey, Rachel & Robert from Bounty. I also got cards from Nicola & Christopher, Michelle & Emma, Rachel, Scott & Nancy-May, Kirsty & Ieuan, Alison, Tony, Chloe, Anthony & Paul and from Dee, Beth, Stephen, Blake & Jamie. Mummy and daddy are keeping all my cards for me for when I am bigger.
Daddy then put me in my chair and I had some banana delight but didn't really like it. Mummy says she'll get me some nice dinners tomorrow but my nurse said they will find me some so I'm looking forward to that. When I'd finished not liking my banana delight daddy put In The Night Garden on and we watched that for a little while. Makka Pakka was being very silly in it today and daddy was making me laugh lots because he was doing the same things as Makka Pakka! It was very funny and made me laugh so much I got very tired so needed to go to sleep again.
