Saturday 4th October 2008 - My nurse was very pleased with me last night. I didn't wake up until a few minutes before mummy and daddy came to see me and slept really well.
I gave mummy and daddy a typical Tiana smile when they came in and gave them lots of cuddles. My nurse told them that my doctors were hoping to move me out of my special room where I've been for 4 weeks and upstairs to another ward. She did say though that, due to the fire on Monday, there was a shortage of special rooms (I have to have my own room because I had MRSA when I was here in March but it hasn't come back since then) so it may take a few days before somewhere can be found. Mummy and daddy seemed very pleased that I am moving from Intensive Care and told me I'm very brave and very, very special.
Daddy and I had a cuddle for a little while but I get uncomfortable because of all the tubes still in my hands and tummy so daddy had to put me back in my cot. Then mummy and daddy played some games with me for a little bit before daddy put In the Night Garden on for me. We watched an episode and then I started to feel tired again so mummy and daddy left to have a drink while I had a sleep.
I woke up when mummy and daddy came back and my doctor came in and said that he was trying to find me a special room upstairs but it might not be for a few days. He said he was very happy with my progress but that they were trying very hard to get my new medicine, Warfarin, right. He said that, although my local hospital could probably find the right levels for me, my case was complicated because of my other medicines and it was better for me to stay in London until they have it figured out.
Mummy said she had to go home again to spend some more time with my big brother. She said Dylan was missing all of us and, because I was doing so well, daddy could look after me while she sees Dylan for a week. I know mummy doesn't really want to leave me but I also know that Dylan needs mummy too so, although I will miss her, I am happy she is going to look after my big brother.
Mummy had a cuddle with me for a little while and then put me in my chair so I could have something nice to eat. I had Pasta Bolognese and ate a quarter of a tin without being sick! It was really yummy and I had forgotten how much I like eating different things. Daddy said he will give me some chocolate pudding tomorrow and said he couldn't today because he doesn't want me overdoing it too quickly. I think he means that, because I'm having 20mls of milk through the tube in my nose every hour, I can't really fit much more in my tummy.
When I'd eaten my Pasta Bolognese we all watched In the Night Garden again and I laughed a lot, especially when daddy danced to the pretty birds that nod their heads! While I was watching In the Night Garden my doctors came in and my nurse asked if I could have one of the tubes taken out of my nose. My doctor said he will take it out tomorrow as long as I'm not sick again! I'm really pleased daddy didn't give me any chocolate pudding because I might have been sick and then I might not be allowed to have the tube taken out.
Just before mummy and daddy left to go home, auntie Cassie came to see me. She stayed with me until I fell asleep to make sure I was ok because mummy and daddy weren't here. Daddy said he will come back again in the morning and has promised he will send mummy a picture of me smiling every day until mummy comes back to London.
