Tuesday 7th October 2008 - Daddy looked even worse when he came to see me today and kept coughing and sneezing. I laugh when he sneezes because it is funny! My nurse told daddy I was a very good girl last night and slept peacefully without waking up once.
When daddy asked my nurse when I might move to another ward she told him that there still wasn't a special room available and I couldn't be moved because I was on a high dose of a medicine called heparin and, until that was reduced, I would have to stay in CICU. Daddy said he thought I was ready to move onto the ward but my nurse said that's what she'd been told so I guess I'll have to stay here for the time being.
Daddy played peek-a-boo and ready-steady-go with me and I giggled lots. I love playing with a little blue rattle that I try to eat but is too big to fit in my mouth so I suck it and rub it on my gums. Daddy says I look really silly when I do it especially when I smile while I'm doing it! It helps make my teeth feel a little better though so I don't care if I look silly... I am a baby after all!
I got very sleepy after daddy and I had been playing so decided it was nap time. I slept for quite a long time and think daddy must have had a sleep too because when he came back to see me later on he looked much better and gave me a big cuddle. I then had a little bit of milk from my bottle but I'm not having any dinner today so that I can give my tummy a little rest.
When I'd had some milk and a cuddle, daddy put me in my chair and we watched In the Night Garden again. I laugh a lot when the Twitifers come on because daddy nods his head like they do when they're singing their song! It's really funny and I watch daddy as soon as I see them on the screen. Upsy Daisy was singing a lot today so daddy was trying to sing too and I still can't figure out who sounds worse... daddy or Upsy Daisy!
While we were watching In the Night Garden a special nurse came in to talk to daddy about my development. She said that, because I've been so unwell, I wasn't as advanced as other babies my age and she was a little concerned that my back was curved at the bottom. She told daddy that she would bring him some pictures of ways to help strengthen my back but she did say I looked very alert and happy and was sitting well in my chair.
Daddy gave me some cream chicken for dinner but I only had a few spoonfuls before I had enough. I didn't want any milk in my bottle so daddy put it in my tummy through the tube in my nose. When I'd had that I got tired and had a sleep. While I was asleep uncle Dom came to see me but my nurse had given me some medicine to help me have a good sleep through the night so I didn't get to see him although he saw me and said I looked much better than the last time he saw me. Daddy gave me a kiss goodnight and said he'd see me tomorrow.
