Thursday 9th October 2008 - When I woke up this morning I looked over and daddy was still asleep in his bed next to me! I was really happy to see him and started talking to him until he woke up. He came and gave me a big kiss and cuddle and then went out for a little while.
I was feeling a bit funny today but couldn't quite put my finger on what was up. One minute I was happy and playing with daddy and having cuddles and the next I was very upset and was crying lots no matter what daddy did to try to make me feel better. I heard daddy ask the nurse if it may be a little withdrawal from some of my medicines, especially the morphine. My nurse said it probably was and that she would talk to the doctors to see what they thought. A little while later the X-ray lady came and took a picture of my chest.
Me and daddy played lots of games today and I got quite tired so I had a sleep at about lunchtime. When I woke up daddy wasn't here so I played with my bears for a little while. Daddy soon turned up and he said he had been into London to buy me a baby seat as Ladybird Ward don't have any for me to sit in since the fire. He had also bought me an Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka In the Night Garden set! I was very pleased especially with my seat because I get very bored laying down. I also had a present from my auntie Kym (another Iggle Piggle! I have 2 now!) and a card from Linda, Ken, Callum and Aaron.
I hadn't been in my new chair very long when the man with the big laptop that can see my heart came in. He was there for a very, very long time and I was getting very upset. Daddy was doing his best to keep me calm but I just wanted all the doctors to leave me alone so I could have a cuddle with daddy! After a very long time all the doctors agreed that my heart was working properly but they were concerned with how pale I was so asked daddy lots of questions. They said they thought I may have another infection and that maybe the anti-biotics I'm on have become useless as the bug they're fighting could have developed an immunity to them. They then told daddy they were worried I may haemorrhage inside my head because I'm on 2 different blood thinning drugs, so they did a brain scan to make sure my head was ok. They said it looked normal after they'd done it but, while they were doing that, daddy noticed my hickman line was red! They all came and looked and said that could be the cause of my infection so it looks like it will be removed in theatre tomorrow.
When all the doctors left daddy and I watched In the Night Garden together and I started to feel sleepy again. Then my nurse came in and said she had some new anti-biotics to give me and started putting it into the needle in my arm. After a little while though my arm started getting very wet and cold so I screamed at daddy and he came to see what was wrong. He noticed my arm very quickly and rushed off to get a nurse. The nurse said that the needle in my arm wasn't working anymore and I would need a new one.
I fell asleep again and was woken up by a different nurse. She sprayed my hand and put the needle in very quickly and I was very brave and only cried for a very little while! Daddy was very proud of me and gave me a big kiss and tucked me in. I fell asleep again while I was watching daddy do my update and am dreaming nice dreams of the Haahoos, The Pinky Ponk and Ninky Nonk, Iggle Piggle, Makka Pakka and Upsy Daisy.
