13th October 2008 Ladybird Ward

Monday 13th October 2008 - When daddy woke up this morning he couldn't get out of bed for quite a long time because I had been sick after my morning feed and had two nurses cleaning me up! Daddy had to wait a very long time before they'd finished and left my room so he could get dressed.

Mummy stayed across the road in the accommodation provided by the hospital so she had a very good nights sleep. Daddy was still up at 2am doing some maintenance on my website and finishing off a new video montage of me. You can see it on my videos page (look for the 5th video down).

When mummy came over my doctors came in and told mummy and daddy that I had put on a little bit of weight again and was looking very well. They said they couldn't hear any murmur from my heart and could hear my prosthetic valve working well. He also told them that they were probably going to stop giving me Warfarin until after I have stopped my anti-biotics as they are worried they will cause more problems with thinning my blood by giving me Warfarin and Heparin together. They said they'll keep me on the heparin until 20th October then start the Warfarin again. They're hopeful it will only take a week or two after that to get my I&R levels to an acceptable rate and will then start thinking about letting me go home! They said I may not need to go back to my local hospital and could possibly go straight home from London. Mummy and daddy looked very pleased with that!

Because my Warfarin was being stopped, the doctors stopped my Heparin infusion (infusion means continuous IV delivery in my arm or leg or any other line) and mummy and daddy were allowed to take me out for a ride in a pram again! This time we went in a lift and mummy and daddy had a cup of tea while I had a cuddle with them. There were lots of people about and I loved watching what everybody was doing! When mummy and daddy had finished their tea they took me outside for a little while but I didn't like it that much because it was a lot brighter than what I've been used to lately and it was hurting my eyes.

When we got back to my room I was getting very hungry and let mummy and daddy know in no uncertain terms that I needed my lunch - NOW! I had rice pudding and ate half a tin without being sick before I fell asleep and had my milk through the tube in my nose.

After I woke up a lady came to see me and mummy and daddy. She brought a big mat and laid me down on it and started twisting and bending me in all sorts of funny ways! Some of them weren't too bad but I wasn't too impressed when she kept moving my airfalant (Tiana means elephant) and I then had to move to try to get it! She took some pictures of me and then let me play with the camera. It was really nice... but didn't quite taste as nice as mummy and daddy's. The lady then told mummy and daddy she would give them the pictures of me in the different bendy positions she had somehow managed to get me into so they could help me try to catch up with my development.

I started to get very hungry again so I had some milk and then a card arrived from Kiea, Anthony and Harrison. Then my auntie Cassie came to see me and we had a cuddle. I was getting very tired but didn't want to go to sleep so I kept trying to stay awake and was getting upset because it was getting very difficult to keep my eyes open! Eventually mummy, daddy and auntie Cassie left me on my own and I finally fell asleep.
